Network Manager seems to think that my wireless card is disabled via the
switch, yet the led light is on.

Looking at /var/log/daemon.log does not reveal anything when the
rfswitch is toggled, but looking at /var/log/kern.log shows that no
matter how many times I toggle the sliding mechanical switch on my acer
aspire one, each time the Radio Frequency Kill Switch is on. The
switch on this netbook is a
toggling the switch seems to change the state of the rfkill switch from 1 to
2.
