I reactivated it, but couldn't reproduce the error afterwards.

I tried again with the ubuntu Guest account and a "virgin" firefox.
*Should have done that earlier, stupid me*
It worked there. That means it's not a bug, but my config being broken :-(
I'll be removing addons one by one and see if the behaviout changes.

about other certificates, can you import or accept other SSL
certificates as expected?

Yes it can be reproduced:
browse to www.cacert.org then click "password login".
Firefox won't let you reach the page.
Try to add an exception then:
Download the Certificate, check its integrity, then click "Accept". Klick it a
dozen times, nothing will happen.
