I'm having the same bug.
I'm not an expert, but could be, that gnome-terminal "sends"/"uses" invalid
terminal identificator. Because, when I lauch
TERM=linux sudo minicom
the bug dissapears.

On the advice of someone on the Gnome Bugzilla, I installed libvte

Bug appears to be related to gnome-terminal's handling of resize, as
implemented by minicom. Minicom works in other terminals (xterm) with
resizing, and with other libvte-based terminals (stjerm) with resizing.

minicom continuall
I'm having this problem as well, in Jaunty final release.
If one has gnome-terminal maximised, minicom continually tries to
resize, but can't because the window is maximised, so just appears to
"blink" very rapidly.
I can use minicom in stjerm (another vte-based terminal app) at any size

One further nugget for you ...
If I start a new gnome-terminal, resize it to 132x24 and THEN start
minicom, the gnome-terminal then resizes itself back to 80x24 and then
ignores further requests tp horizontally resize.
Seems to be working fine apart from that ...

Sigh!
One step forward ...
The resizing problem has gone away in as much as I can start minicom and
talk through the serial port without the gnome-terminal continually
resizing.
However, I can no longer resize the gnome-terminal horizontally ?!?!
I can change the size vertically (e.g. make the
The latest gnome packages (looks like 2.26 is about to be formally
released) for Jaunty appear to have fixed this problem.
At least, I can start minicom (with nothing attached to the serial port)
and the resizing problem does not occur.
I'll try it out properly when I get into work tomorrow, but
I also have this problem. I agree that it seems related to gnome-
terminal. Minicom works fine in an xterm, no resizing issues.

I have this same problem on jaunty, but I think its more related to
gnome-terminal than minicom. When I ssh into a debian/sid machine and
run minicom, the same thing happens.
