I can no longer reproduce this with Ubuntu 10.04, regardless of
compiz/metacity. Since the original reporter has unsubscribed I am
closing this bug.

I can confirm that even with an up-to-date Intrepid and it happends
without reference to compiz.
1.) Click on the clock applet
2.) wait a second
3.) click the applet again.
I attached a screencapture showing the issue.

Sorry, yes it is indeed the clock applet (even though it does have weather
capability).
