Title:
plasma cpu usage 40% and more
--
kubuntu-bugs mailing list
Plasma uses 100% CPU for me, if I resize (some) widgets. It keeps using
100% CPU until I logout and relogin. This is the case, at least, for
Calendar widget but also other widgets.

I have been told that Calendar needs fixing. Version:
4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1~intrepid1 is what I have and I have also been told that no
such CPU spike occurs in 4.3 (from KDE trunk). BTW, that'd mean new package
altogether ;)
Also, for same package on Fedora 10(kdeplasma-addons-4.2.2-2.fc10.x86_64),
I've done some investigating. It is *not* the calender that you get from the
clock plasmid, rather, it is the actual calender-plasmathing.
The precise steps to start the CPU-sucking:
1) Add the calender widget from Add Widgets
2) Move the widget
3) ...?
4) Profit
A work-around: Drag the calender
Today I installed PCBSD 7.1 with KDE4.2 and plasma is using 0% of the
CPU when idle even with calandar open. The only plasmoid which is not in
PCBSD is the network one
I will try to install Fedora 11 Beta and see if I find other
differences.

A duplicate of

Try removing the calendar as 3vi1 wrote.

I just rebooted after installing today's (Kubuntu 9.04 - AMD64) updates,
and find I'm seeing this too - except even worse: Plasma is completely
(97-99%) using one of the four cores of my Intel Q6600.

Just some extra info: Removing the Calendar dropped the utilization of
the core that was previously at 97-99% usage down to 4%, even though I
have seven other plasmoids open.

I removed the plasmoids one by one and found that, in my case, it's the
Calendar plasmoid that eating all the CPU.
