I put in a fix for freezes on i965 that's in the release; I wonder if
this has resolved your issue as well?

Have to retract my previous comments. With 7.4 I get freezes every few
hours. Downgrading to 7.3 seemed to help - over a 5 day period I saw
only 2 freezes (which more closely fits your bug frequency).
Another suggestion has been to set this in xorg.conf:
Option "EXAOptimizeMigration" "off"

Steve, I've reproduced a freeze on i965. It came on within 2-3 hrs of updating
to mesa 7.4.
After downgrading to 7.3, the freeze went away entirely.
