I'm also having this problem on a fresh 9.04 install with a local Canon printer
MF4150.
Also to install a network printer (HP LaserJet 6P) via smb: fails.
The verify in the configuration mask tells everything OK, but see
/var/log/cups/error_log:
E [18/Jun/2009:14:45:41 +0200] CUPS-Add-Modify-Pr
I'm also having this problem on a fresh 9.04 install.
What can I do to assist diagnosis?

I can't print anything at all w/ 9.04. Did some of the Canon drivers
get removed mistakenly? When selecting a driver in 8.10, I can select
Canon MP530. In 9.04, there is nothing that resembles the Canon MP530.

tell that certain applications print for you and others not. So please
follow the instructions on

sections "Reporting Bugs" and "CUPS error_log".

Dan, your apport report shows that the "lpstat -v" command has crashed.
Can you run "lpstat -v" in a terminal window? If it crashes the crash
report utility should pop up. Follow the steps of the wizard to create a
bug report from this crash and when the report is ready mark it a
duplicate of this
I have the same problem with the Canon LBP5000 printer and Jaunty.
Everything worked with 8.10 but now with Jaunty OpenOffice and Gedit
prints normaly but Evince and Firefox does not print anything.
