I don't know if it's a regression, but I am experiencing this bug in Ubuntu
9.04 Jaunty (64 bit build).
OpenOffice version is 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3 (jaunty)
Everytime in I click on "Diapo" (in french) to insert a new slide, the
Task Panel returns. I don't need it often, so it's more of an annoyance.

It would be nice if the task pane could be permanently disabled. No
matter what I do, it always pops up when opening a presentation or a new
instance. I spend a lot of time editing presentations, and it is an
annoyance.

It appears the task pane stays closed in Ubuntu 7.10 OpenOffice 2.3.0 at
least when creating new slides. Please let me know if this solves your
problem.
