Ok about the grub2. Also, I am indeed not fully sure about what was happening, but what I'm sure about is that I rebooted in karmic and that the menu.lst contained a lot of stuff but all my kernels (and the ubuntu kernels) were -removed-. So after rebooting I just ended up in a grub prompt where I
