1.0.23 is not available in lucid yet. Did you try from
linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname -r) (ppa) or

I installed from the instructions in http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/
Upgrade Alsa (1.0.23) on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04
This can be resumed at these commands:
wget ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.23.tar.bz2

Kernel 2.6.34 will not be in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx. Lucid is
based on 2.6.32 with DRM backported from 2.6.33. However the fix for
your bug has made it into kernel 2.6.32.11 upstream.

This is what i have:
r...@richard-laptop:~# dpkg -l | grep kernel image
rc linux-image-2.6.31-20-generic 2.6.31-20.58
Linux kernel image for version 2.6.31 on x86
ii linux-image-2.6.31-20-generic-pae 2.6.31-20.58
I then use Update Manager wich re-install some softwares..
Then the new list is:
r...@richard-laptop:~# dpkg --get-selections|grep linux-
linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.32-19-generic install
linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.32-19-generic-pae install
linux-backports-modules-2.6.31-20-generic
I will wait for the 2.6.34 final.
Thank you madbio...
