Philip, running "source /etc/bash_completion" helped.
The problem is that my .bashrc does contain those lines that are supposed to
enable bash-completion.

/etc/bash_completion.d/postgresql even breaks filename completion. For
example, if I type "psql dbname < path/to/something/" and hit TAB it

For everyone where it doesn't work: can you please check if 'set | grep
BASH_COMPLETION' gives any output and if running
source /etc/bash_completion
helps?
If yes, bash completion probably isn't properly enabled in your ~/.bashrc
your .bashrc should contain
if [ -f /etc/bash_completion ] && ! sho
I moved to Ubuntu because of a few unsolved bugs like bash completion.
But Ubuntu Lucid itself has other bugs that none takes care of ...
A lot of work in changing colors, anyway ...

I was using KUbuntu karmic, as Lucid is available only today! And I just
upgraded.
In general you should never troubleshoot on non current versions!
