To manage notification
I just found a workaround for this problem:
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/KernelModeSetting#ForcingModes-1
I edited /etc/default/grub and added
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="video=DVI-I-1:1280x1024@60 video=TV-1:d"
(do not just copy this string, read it and understand please)
run
$ sudo update-grub2
I have a similar situation with nouveau on Lucid. I'm running a self-
compiled 2.6.33 kernel on a PPC computer, but Ubuntu's regular nouveau
and drm packages.
X is running stable, but the (non-X) terminal resolution is low, the
background picture in gdm and gnome has a "low-resolution copy" in the
