Hi Bryce, I managed to collect all the things that you were asking
through ssh.

Binary package hint: xorg
After closing (and of course opening) the laptop lid, xorg graphic freeze,
except the mouse pointer.
Clicking and pressing keyboard buttons has no effect.
To recover just ctrl-alt-f1, login and restart GDM service

The Gdm log 2 has a backtrace that does appear to be what gets shown
when there's a gpu hang, however no gpu lockup error numbers are shown
in the dmesg as usual.
Please reproduce the freeze, and then with the system frozen ssh into it
(you may have to connect ethernet cable) and collect both
