Title:
Changing the resolution with the nVidia driver through monitor
preferences causes black bars to appear on the left and right for
resolutions smaller then the maximum value (1920x1080). Using the nVidia
display preferences causes a pop-up to appear:
"You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X drive
Jeff, were you using the binary driver? xrandr does not work with the
binary driver, but it should pass certification if the user can change
the resolution via the application provided by nvidia.
