Sorry that the issue got unattended for a long time. This issues of
fixing the upgrade experience are high priority for the 12.04 release.

Hi. I just upgraded from 10.04 LTS to 10.10 then finally to 11.04. To do
the upgrade I went to System - Administration - Update manager.
The system upgraded fine to 10.10, but unfortunately the upgrade to
11.04 has left me with an unusable system. I am stuck at an all black
screen that reads as
** Summary changed:
- 10.10 -- 11.04 update fails
+ 10.10 -- 11.04 update fails, leaving computer unusable
