Hello!
I am having the same problem using Deja Vu and Ubuntu One cloud service.
It was working well and now suddenly it popped out the error message. (i
read the messages above and changing the folder is only the temporary
cure)
My laptop is :
Release 12.04 (precise) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 3.8.0-2
Is there some other way to backup this wonderful system?

I'm not sure I have ever seen Deja-Dup work, and it certainly doesn't
work now. Adding a comment here only on the chance that someday it may
get fixed and I can finally find out what it is intended to do.

Did a distupgrade for 13.04. The error is now something like (not exact

After suggestion https://bugs.launchpad.net/deja-
dup/+bug/882699/comments/5 I created another folder ("also-dup/David")
on Ubuntu One and everything appeared to be working. It was backing up
for a while, but this morning I got this "code 500" error again. So
that work-around didn't work for me.
And I have it too after it scans the filesystems and attempts to uplaod
the files.

Hey, devs, seriously, how long does it take to make deja dup a fucking
competitive product? I see this error has been around for a year now.
I cannot wait to get Google Drive on Ubuntu.

Ok. To enlarge on my experience, the sequence of events is as follows;
I set up Deja Dup to back up to a named folder on U1.
My machine scans, prepares and uploads files.
A successful backup is reported, there are uploaded files on U1,
including various control files. All appears good.

To throw my two cents in I ran into.the same problem but after deleting and
re-creating the backup it hasn't happened since. Sorry to the deb's for not
making my machine available but it is my primary laptop an couldn't afford
it to be down.

Martin, you asked some questions of me last year, but I did not notice
them until now.

It shouldn't be. It prevents the user from doing two backups at the
same time. And it doesn't upload more than one item at a time.

I third that... Ubuntu backup (deja-dup to Ubuntu One) has not worked
for me for many months due to this bug, and after so much time I think I
probably need to just stop waiting for a fix and FTP or SSH to my own
web host. But I already do that, and I was thinking of Ubuntu One as a

I second that fully, and would be happy to help with debugging where I
can.

Don't like to post impatiently, but is there any idea of timescale for
resolving this?
It's plagued my attempts to use DejaDup with Ubuntu One; having to
apply the folder change workaround once would be bearable, but the
problem has returned for me with the new folder name.

There was another strange bug which happened when I created a new backup
folder, it wouldn't backup. It would sit there a spin and use all of my
ram and eventually crash my computer. I didn't back up for about 2
months which was terribly disappointing and very dangerous for me. I

Adding to the fray. This worked perfectly for me in 11.12 and broke in
12.04 apparently with the upgrade. I am creating a new folder and
changing backup location. This bug should be considered critical mostly
because users (such as myself) do pay for this service and the nature of
