It probably was fixed in sane-backends then.
I do not think it is possible to make the current scan replace/overwrite
the previous scan. It should be possible to just "collect" them and then
save them one for one, so you do not have to delete them.

Printer side or something else has been fixed if you did not try.

This seems to be a Hardware Issue, i.e. Simple Scan does not support
your scanner perfectly -- or possibly not at all.
