This bug is actually dependent on bug #910536, where a non-working
backlight in ACPI mode forces the user to boot the computer with kernel
option "acpi=off".
If the computer is booted without "acpi=off" the STA driver works just
fine.
Is there a way to enable the wireless card when ACPI is off?
