I don't know what you did wrong Rajiv, but I can read the log files just
fine. Unfortunately they do not show that grub was updated on that day.
As Brain said, there isn't enough information to proceed here. We would
need to know how to reproduce this to continue.

determine what went wrong. The files /var/log/apt/term.log and
/var/log/apt/history.log would both help here.
