However, that should only be a workaround and not the bug-fix,
since fresh install without configuration from the alternate-installer
will still get the bug present.

Just delete the entries for wlan0 from /etc/network/interfaces and
things should work properly. We'll still need to look again at the
alternate installer to double-check why it doesn't remove these though.

I have exactly the same issue. I installed using the alternate cd image.
During the setup I only configured the ssid and password of my network
and it seemed it was working. In the network indicator the status
appears to be 'device not managed'. I see that ath_pci is blacklisted,

I tried to experiment something, and this happened:
I made an alternate install of 12.04 alpha2, and made a wlan0 succesful
connection from the text-setup.
Maybe conf
