The bug is likely to be due to the crystal theme because when I use
another icons theme in OpenOffice, the program doesn't crash.

In fact, the same problem occurs in Calc, Impress and Draw too, with the
Text formatting toolbar.

Hi,
If you have time, you can run Openoffice over Valgrind and report the results.
Run this command:
valgrind --log-file=$HOME/oowriter.memtest --trace-children=yes
--track-fds=yes perl /usr/bin/oowriter
This runs OpenOffice over Valgrind and detects memory errors. This can take a
