I had all those codecs installed (before importing anything), however my
syslog is full of import errors, rhythmbox now stopped completely to
import into my old library. builds a new library, but misses some files.

Rythmbox many errors when importing to library

The error Rhythmbox states is that it can't resolve some of the
dependencies when installing gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.
If you do a manual ...
sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
... this installs all the required files. A quick restart of Rhythmbox
and all imports appear to work fine.
