Yes, the dock allows using multiple instances because maybe you want to
have multiple docks with different settings. But for that, you have to
force the dock loading the configuration from another directory by using
the '-d' option.
Maybe the dock should check if it

- is left in the original place in the background of the dock even if the
- icons have been modified or displaced by active and ongoing animation.
