The HWE kernel on Bionic does not have this problem anymore, as it was
patched in a previous update.
Previous kernel versions (as 4.15 and 4.17) seem to never hit this
particular bug, but the kernel bugzilla discussion suggests the bug was
present on older versions.

Hello,
the patch mentioned in the link has landed in 4.18, do you still have this
issue with the latest HWe kernel on Bionic?
(Although I think this might still be an issue for 4.15)
