I figured out that the behavior occurred because I disabled polling on
my CD drive to save battery power.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better, but unfortunately I've been unable to reproduce your
issue. How exactly are you ejecting the CD or DVD? I've tried with my
Ubuntu CD and my Prey DVD, both show the correct CD-RE/DVD+RW Drive
icon/label after hitti
