I have a server running 10.10 with sudo version 1.7.2p7 which is having
the same problem. Is it possible for this bug to be considered valid
until the patch is distributed?

I'm sorry, the function I was referring to has been implemented in sudo
1.7.3. However, Lucid has 1.7.2p1. Therefore, this is an invalid bug.
I was confused by the fact that the same bug exists in the sudo
bugtracker for a version >= 1.7.3, and didn't compare versions before
reporting. Sorry for t
