I see where the problem lies. All the changes I make never take. I
even ran sudo displayconfig-gtk with no luck. When I add the
displayconfig-gtk to the bottom of xorg.conf and restart x, it fails to
load x. I tak ethe last line out and it boots like before with only one
screen. Not sure why i

This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.

Confirmed on 7.04 AMD64 using VMware server 1.0.3 from the commercial
repository. I have an onboard e1000 and I cannot use any TCP based
connections until I execute 'sudo ethtool -K eth0 sg off rx off tx off
tso off' on the host.
I've put the command in /etc.rc.local for now so the change persists
Now it works for me too! Only problem is, indeed, that it doesn't turn
off the speakers when I plug in my headphone. Just noticed this IN
CLASS, when I read the previous comment, by getting my headphone off. I
now know why everyone was looking that strange at me.

I do some further tests on amd64 platfom and see the old error: aisexec
daemon didn't start. See the attached strace output. This output
contains a Segmentation fault. I try to build the openais package with
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=debug and see the error is gone. Next I try to build
