Ok, since the package in my ppa works, I'll now submit this for a stable
release update. I have personally tested this on a recently obtained
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R board, with a JMicron controller, and can verify
that this fix works.
This fix can only be tested if one has a JMicron SATA/AHCI/RAID
Ok that patch works around the issue, but is any functionality lost, or
does it introduce any regressions? I'd like to get this fixed in a
stable release update, but need to know whether this is likely to break
anything else, or reduce onboard's functionality.

If anybody wishes to do the leg work for filing a feature freeze
exception, I'd certainly be happy to review it. If its also possible to
set pulseaudio by default, and allow for a fallback to alsa, this would
even be better, as vlc will then work with all desktops out of the box
for hardy.

think it would only get installed if the user needs it for a setup,
similar to the way lvm2 and mdadm are only installed when they are

THis is not related to at-spi. At-spi is only used if different
accessibility technologies, such as magnifiers, on-screen keyboards, or
screen readers wish to get information from GNOME in regards to what the
user is doing. However, I am unsure as to what part of GNOME this bug
applies to.
With the second manually started session, are you also running as root,
i.e are both session s running as root? If so, it seems quite obvious
that at-spi doesn't work, as its already running for the same user in
another session.

I'm untagging this bug, as there is a work-around, which most people
affected by this issue would do anyway. The workaround is simply to
switch back to using metacity as the window manager. I have done this
for the accessibility profiles on the hardy live CD, so it won't affect
users.

I have recently purchased a new machine, with a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R
motherboard. This motherboard includes 2 disk controllers. An Intel
ICH9R SATA controller, supporting up to 6 SATA ports, and a
JMicron/Gigabyte SATA controller supporting 2 SATA, and 1 PATA ports.

Just to make sure there is no confusion, the above issue occurrs with
both i386 and amd64 disks.

This module has been included in the hardy kernel as of 2.6.24-10.
Marking as fix released. If anything needs to be done to the dmraid
scripts for Ubuntu to make use of this module properly, please let me
know, and I can make the changes, and get it uploaded.
