Yes, the linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic package did solve the no
internal mic issue, but it is still way too quiet. Screaming into the
Mic gives less that 50% sound meter read back.

Open Terminal
$ alsamixer
press TAB once
Set Front Mic to 100%

Most of us already know that the HP Mini 110 series Netbooks are having
internal Mic failures. I'm sure the fantastic folks that work for Ubuntu
are already on it, so more/less just want to maybe see if this helps...
WinD'OHs 7 has released a fix that works with the HP
I think this extends to all HP Mini 110 series
You can add 110-1030nr to that list. Internal Mic is a no-go.
