Hi Liam,
ok it was just that i was thinking when i did it that i had to type the size
of hard drive space i needed for Ubuntu. From memory there was a default
setting it offered and then you could then change it to whatever you wanted.

I actually agree with the strategy proposed.
Remove the partition entirely, having copied everything you need from
it, and then let Ubuntu detect (and use) the "free space".
