Whenever I choose the Try Ubuntu option, the screen goes blank and freezes. And

With a fresh install of iso available today on a laptop, (dell 1330, nvidia
8400m GS), basically same the same thing -
Desktop login to unity, crashed window dec., then nvidia-settings
Classic login to gnome-panel, initially just froze up on the X Server Display
Confirmation menu, after applying

Thru a fully updated natty as of 6:30 pm (east coast usa), it now works in a

- I open another session with a second user

Yes, unfortunately i seam to get some weird atombios loop errors when
shutting down and it freezes most of the time during shutdown too. I
guess its a kernel thing though, because system doesn't seam to find all
that its should regarding bios.
Anyway when in an old kernel at boot i get initramfs.
I have changed the bug report to just one problem, since the window bars seem
fine now (possibly a partially broken update previously).
I am using the standard Gnome desktop (not Unity). There were no changes made
by myself to xorg.conf or anything (other than what I have done below if that

Windows works fine and recognize FN key with old bios version F.0B.
So please try to fix maverick communication with this bios too to handle FN
