Done. There doesn't appear to be any way that Mir itself can screw up
that call.
It's possible qtmir might be messing up with an incorrect 'this' pointer
to the Mir DisplayBuffer. But I think much more likely that it's a
nouveau driver bug. If it wasn't then we'd be seeing similar crashes
with

This ended up being a BIOS+OS interaction issue. When booting to
Windows, it honored the Touchpad enable/disable button. Ubuntu doesn't.
I had to boot into the BIOS, and then hit this button once for it to
then be enabled again in Ubuntu.

The laptop is now on 15.10 and I have not seen the bug. It may have been
fixed in 15.04, I can't remember it was so long ago since I did that
upgrade.
