: Braided nylon loop connector material?
So Wes are you making loop connectors for your fly lines? If you are
I would be interested in the process. I have been using the braided
leaders for some time and love them but the connections to the fly
line are not how I would like them yet.

Does it have to be a heat gun
I would guess you have already done this. Does it really go through
the guides - slick as snot? - whatever he said. Try as I might the
knots when the leader connects to the fly line occasionally cause me
grief.

Mike,
I normally fish with 11' leaders. That length allows me to net a fish
without bringing the line/leader connection through the tip top guide.
Once that knot or loop is inside the guides, you have significantly
increased the odds you will lose the fish! It just takes a momentary
hangup of
The trick here to learn is that, when you raise your rod with one hand
and reach for the fish/leader with the other, turn your rod so the the
reel is up, not down or sideways. If you have snake guides on the rod,
the knots in your connections will slip through moving against the rod,
not the
This is an interesting item. I use longer leaders for dry fly fishing
and have little problems with them. I personally prefer something in
the 9-11 (with tippet) for nymphing. It probably should make little
difference but when landing a fish you have to get him to you so the
connection between
Any idea as to its intended use?

The Gudebrod C-Thru product arrived yesterday, and I have been playing with
the material. If you took the standard braided nylon material used for
making loops, and scaled it down using smaller diameter nylon fibers, then

Hi Mike,
It was snowing hard in Bend today. We are going to go directly from
winter to the 4th of July. Aloha.
Henry posted this link about the loop construction. The info is part
of Dan Blanton's web site.
