Here's what I do:
I use iPhoto to store all the clips and photos from my xacti. It tells me
how much space my library takes up. So I can keep selecting some "film
rolls" until they add up to about 4GB and then I burn them to DVD right in
iPhoto.
I also export a full DV copy of my edited videos from

I'll also vouch for the simplicity of MP4CamToAVI. I use it with my Xacti on
Windows. SO, I do the MP4CamToAVI thing, then edit in Windows MovieMaker and
save as DV. Then I open it up in Quicktime Pro to turn the video into .mov
and the iTunes (can't remember the file extension thingie) formats.

Sure - here's why.
For whatever reason, Macs suck at editing mpeg4 video. If you try to set up
a mpeg4 iMovie project or you change your sequence settings in FCP to match
the Xacti settings, I've found it to be very unstable and prone to lots of
rendering errors.
