another possibility is !that you have "slide to type" se! to on.
Go to settings, general, keyboard.
Look to see if "slide to type" is set to on.
Turn it off if it is, and see if that makes a difference.

When I got my 6 from Verizon, I got the Defender case. The salesperson put on a
film screen protector on the phone before putting the case on it, and that
seems to work pretty well for filling in the gap.
The phone seems pretty responsive to me.
