Yes, at least for Logitech this is pretty standard, they also do this with
their K780 keyboard which includes a USB dongle and I think some of their mice
also have a spot to put in the USB

The USB extension cable is meant so you can plug your USB dongle into the end
of it and then plug the cable

I wanted to comment about a couple of issues setting up the Logitech G613
Lightspeed keyboard that would have been helpful for me had I known about
them.
1. The USB dongle or transmitter that sends the signal to the keyboard is
housed in the keyboard's battery compartment not in
