I would like to add contacts to appointments. When I attempt this, I am taken
to what appears to be my contact list, but all the entries are dimmed and
cannot be selected. Does anyone know why this is the case and if there's a
solution. Thanks.

Here is what I've noticed. It seems that you cannot put contacts in that don't
have email addresses. That is my only thought.
