Not really bad news in my opinion! These days you can pick up good second hand PC for a few hundred dollars and you will get far better performance than using emulation on a Mac. Networking a PC to a Mac is is easy to do with Mac OS X, you can even share your Mac internet connection with the PC

I am using a MasterView kvm switch that shares usb/monitor with 4 devices, 2 XServes, 1 G4 and 1 G3/350 Server. The G3 has a KeySpan usb card and occasionally will lose control (generally if the kvm is powered or if the G3 is restarted without the correct switch selected). The others work well
