thank you

2000-09-14 Thread christos
Thank you all who responded to my pleas for help with my research paper.
As I have told some of you privately, the paper isn't due untill December,
but since I will not be using usual sources, I need to start making
contacs soon.

I think my topic will be something like mainstream media conglomerates
attempting to sell underground culture, and use Knights of the Jaguar as
my prime example of this. Furthermore, I want to compare and contrast
Underground Resistance and Submerge with Sony Records and Sony Records
Distribution. I will put my research paper on line when its finished and
will post the URL to this list.

Thanks again everyone, for without your help, I would have no idea where
to start.

welcome addition to our tiny techno family in the city and will be sorely

GROOVETECH TO WEBCAST FROM MOTOR

2000-09-14 Thread Javier Drada

GROOVETECH TO WEBCAST FROM MOTOR DETROIT

Detroit, Michigan, September 11, 2000 – In a move that will deliver the
sounds of Detroit’s premiere electronic music venue to fans around the
world, Groovetech and Motor Detroit have agreed to begin streaming Internet
broadcasts from the club effective immediately. Both the live and archived
sets will be freely available on Groovetech’s Motor broadcast page located
at http://www.groovetech.com/motor

Live broadcasts from Motor will stream every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday
nights at 10pm EST/ 7pm PST. A complete archive of past sets will also be
available to listeners who want to check out a set they may have missed or
want to experience over again. We’ve been interested in webcasting from the
club for quite a while. When we saw how Groovetech handled the Detroit
Electronic Music Festival we knew they were the ones we wanted for Motor,
said Joshua Glazer, promotions director for Motor. To support the webcasts,
Motor has created a link from their website at http://www.motordetroit.com
to the broadcast page.

Upcoming scheduled Groovetech broadcasts from Motor include:

September 15: Donald Glaude

September 16: DJ T1000 and Terence Parker

September 22: Method live (Mario J and Murat)

September 23: Colette

September 29: Richard Humpty Vission

Detroit's underground movement continues to have a major influence on
electronic dance music, said Groovetech’s Jon Cunningham. By broadcasting
from Motor, we hope to continue to expose the world to the people and sounds
that helped start it all. In the past Motor has hosted DJs like Derrick
May, Ritchie Hawtin, Carl Craig, John Acquaviva and Carl Cox to name a few.

Motor joins Groovetech’s roster of club broadcasts that includes 1015 Folsom
and Scuba at the Manhattan Lounge in San Francisco, The End in London, and
the OK Hotel in Seattle. In addition, Groovetech webcasts live electronic
dance music from DataBass in Los Angeles and Rio Radio in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, along with GT Radio stations in Seattle and San Francisco.

Recognized as a pioneer of streaming broadcasts on the Web, Groovetech was
formed in 1996 to serve the global, electronic dance music community. With
offices in Seattle, San Francisco and London, Groovetech is the finest
source for electronic dance music on the Web. More information is available
at http://www.groovetech.com

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE MONEY FROM SHAKE's BENEFIT PARTY

2000-09-14 Thread JovanBlade
Hello everyone!

100% of the door money goes to Shake. NONE OF THE DJ's ARE GETTING PAID. WE
ARE ALL DJing For FREE in honor and out of respect for the urgent needs of
our friend. I believe the cost is between $7 $10 dollars for entry. Mr. Al.
Oldham would no more about the exact amount for entry. Please forgive me for
not knowing this information. I have not DJ'ed a set at Motor since January
of this year so I am not aware of the exact amount for entry.

Furthermore, I want to make it clear that I, TERRENCE PARKER cannot and will
not take any credit for the planning or preparation of this event in any
manner. I know that many people have assumed that I organized this benefit
for Shake because of my other charitable contributions in the past. If anyone
deserves the TRUE credit for taking the LEAD role in putting this event
together in honor of our good friend Shake, it's AL Oldham, DJ T-1000. He
simply asked me if I would like to participate, and I quickly said YES. My
focus has been on preparing an awesome set to honor and pay tribute to my
friend Shake, and on spreading the word so that Shake will have a packed
house and leave with PHAT POCKETS this Saturday night. So if anyone has any
questions regarding the specifics of this event, I respectfully ask that they
be directed to AL as he could better answer your questions.

:-)

peace respect,

TP
