X-101-2-3
according to an interview with jeff mills from 1998: "X-101 were mike, rob and me, while X-102 and 103 were mainly done by rob and me." (translated by myself from german text) BTW, it's interesting to see that mills talks in a very "mundane" way while being interviewed, in contrast to the discussed linernotes (SIGH!) cheers, stefan >>>The scene was all changed like the change in his face...<<<

Re: [313] LiL Louis produced a $150 worth vinyl?
The track you mean with the saxophone is probably Why fall . It has two versions ...one with saxophone and a non sax mix :) It is pretty hard too find. Funny thing is that there just came a strange kind of cover version of this track called "White falls" . To keep it 313 related the following info :) The guy who made this cover version (or rmx) was the second European artist (after Speedy J) who released on a Detroit techno label (Malego records) He has a whole bunch of names he uses and even more labels... and this mix of the Lil 'louis track he made 5 years ago is really a peak time record... I think it's worth finding it (especially when you don't have the original) [EMAIL PROTECTED]

what ever happened to...
I was curious to find out if anyone on the list knows what ever happened to DJ Overdose. I have two tapes from him that I got in Detroit around 1990. Both are great three turntable mixes (lots of cutting and doubling up records) that have a lot of detroit and chicago tracks on them. I know he opened a small store in Cass corridor at one point but he seems to have disappeared. Anyone know any further information? dave NYC

Ian Pooley - Transmat
Ian Pooley's new album, Since Then, is very nice - it has a warm Brazilian influence, a handful of vocal tracks. It's possibly his most full realised LP yet. Ian also has an EP on the way via Transmat under his Quiet Daze alias. He says it should hopefully come out this Autumn (that's the Northern Hemisphere). It will have four tracks. You will know his November from the Time: Space compilation. Some info: Pooley's contract with V2 allows him to distribute material through other channels providing he uses an alias. Currently Ian is hoping to finally issue his Quiet Daze EP, Viewing The Decade, on Derrick May's Detroit-based Transmat label. Pooley says that the EP is completely different to Since Then, signalling both a return to his roots and his own take on the classic Detroit sound.

Neither Mills nor Jaguar
Picked up the Detroit Escalator Co.'s Peacefrog album this week. I was already sympathetic to it due to the excellent appearance on the transmat time:space compilation, but after putting the needle on side A of the album and letting it spin for all of 15 seconds I was hooked. Great stuff, really deep soulful mellow stuff. Also picked up some funky electro from 'Mr Velcro Fastener' - you can't listen to serious music all the time and these crazy electro beats and some guy talking about DSP and UMB had me laughing. A lot of people say electro is cheesy but that's the point, I say. Dave __ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Messenger - Talk while you surf! It's FREE. http://im.yahoo.com/
