Records for auction
Just to let some of you know there are some nice Detroit records that I am auctioning among some other classics like: Derrick May's Innovator Soundtrack for the tenth planet on Network. The first Nightmares On Wax LP on Warp, an old Altern 8 LP on Network, DBX Losing Control Accelerate White label promo, Robert Hood's Minimal Nation, The Quadrant release on Planet E, and early Wild Planet release on Warp, and a not so Detroit but very nice chicago house classic by Steve Silk Hurley Jack Your Body which was the first release on Underground Records Chicago. minto __ Do You Yahoo!? Haye! Listen to Brazil's #1 techno DJ at: www.tvi27booking.com.br/murphy.ra He will be touring the USA and Canada on july, so if you like what you hear keep in touch and I will keep you informed about his gigs in the USA. I must add to this. I'm not brazilian but I had a few contact with brazilian DJ's some years ago, and can tell you that even though you have a strong community of Detroit-centred heads and very good DJ's, I've never heard about this one, so I *sicerely* doubt you can come around saying stuff like Brazil's #1 techno DJ. It shows very little respect towards brazilian DJ's and the work they've been developing to post things like this in an international forum. Not only little respect but also lack of knowledge, because if you knew better you'd know that you have some of those very good brazilian DJ's right here subscribed to the 313 (are you still there, Spiceee?) and they would never lett you going around spreading (dis)information like this. Mind you, I'm not putting this DJ Murphy down or the quality of his work - I didn't even heard him whatsoever - I'm just talking about the post. all tomorrow's parties - what's in store from autechre
damn, it's quiet on the list well, anyway, a mate of mine got the (intense) pleasure of witnessing autechre's latest live set at the all tomorrow's parties festival in sussex (?). he says he has never experienced the likes (and this from a veteran of live shows). it was a pure sonic assault that just blew him away - he was (and still is) lost for words. didn't sound exactly like my cup of tea as he claimed it was the darkest 'music' he had ever heard, but an extraordinary musical adventure is definitely in store for you lucky people attending the demf if you choose to see the crazy english pair. _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

I pretty much agree with Tom Magic Feet's review in Jockey Slut that he emulates Mills very, very closely. It's OK but maybe not innovative. Also does Ade Fenton have any material available on CD format (or even a mix-CD)? Final question: is Gayle San currently based in Singapore or the UK? I note that she has a new release on Black Nation - Backbone EP. How much has she produced prior to this and what are her productions like? Is there any info on her online? Fw: [313] DJ Shufflemaster, Fenton, San
no, what i was saying is it's far too easy and too common for people to rope in any hard minimalism with mills' stuff from a few years back when he was the world's finest. 'growth' is good for everyone but why when mills is now making superb deep stuff and not so exceptional dancefloor music is all club stuff compared to his...time for people to realise he has moved on too with his productions. if you're gonna compare then do so with the likes of ruskin, female regis, surgeon etc as their music is much closer to the album but then again they're not from detroit so that probably isn't allowed. innercity - Original Message - From: Cyclone Wehner [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313 Detroit 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Monday, April 16, 2001 3:14 PM Subject: Re: [313] DJ Shufflemaster, Fenton, San Actually, coming from a 'journalist', 'Millsian' is a very fluid term - it doesn't mean hard techno, it means what it says. Re: [313] Larry Heard Date Correction!!!!
There are officially 5 afterparties on the Saturday (not including clubs such as Motor, Temple, etc.) and 7 on Sunday (this includes Motor). I have this feeling that everyone's going to be so wiped out from Saturday and Sunday, that no one's going to show up to Hart Plaza on Monday until 10pm...and I'm sure we'll all look lovely :) As for the Monday, Motor's open, there are a couple more parties that aren't quite confirmed yet, and there are a few people that threw parties last year (Motormouth, Transmat) that haven't announced if they're doing anything yet. DJ Mixing - keys -
Do any Djs keep a list of keys of various tracks (as well as BPM)? (key as in F or Bflat etc. -the tonal center of a track or whatever you choose to call it) If so: What are the most frequently used keys? What are the least frequently used keys? Do certain producers have favorite keys? What's the BMP limitation on changing tracks with different keys? Like if you're going from F to G (Maj 2nd up), What does that amount to in BPM change if the F track is BPM=120 and the G track is BPM = x? Anybody work with stuff like that? mediadrome

RE: [313] DJ Mixing - keys -
Some techno is written on minor chords, and flats i.e. mills, Ramirez, But as far as narrowing it down, it's difficult, especially when some of the basslines are falling below scales and tuned too low for register, i.e. sub bases and the like. I would suggest taking some mp 3's and saving them as wave files. You can them take those files, or their midi information and run it through some shareware notation software. There's too many variables to consider, and there are really no rules, or standards. If there are, I've ignored them. That's kind of the point. Re: [313] DJ Mixing - keys -
You'd think that based on pitch, you would change the key of a track. I.e. if you have a track in Bflat, and you pitch it up +8 it is no longer a Bflat (or is it?). I would think that changing the pitch not only chages the key, but also distorts it? Any thoughts? Cheers! Like, great recommendation. :) Do any Djs keep a list of keys of various tracks (as well as BPM)? (key as in F or Bflat etc. -the tonal center of a track or whatever you choose to call it) If so: What are the most frequently used keys? What are the least frequently used keys? Do certain producers have favorite keys? What's the BMP limitation on changing tracks with different keys? Like if you're going from F to G (Maj 2nd up), What does that amount to in BPM change if the F track is BPM=120 and the G track is BPM = x? Anybody work with stuff like that? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Track ID at Shake benefit set again...
hi, i think this was when T. Linder was spinning. i was wondering what track comes on at roughly 10:30 into it. it was originally a Mr. G. track on the Give and Take EP and he mixes a really sweet electro track into it. can anybody ID that next track for me? the beat kicks in at 10:35. http://www.groovetech.com/PhoenixData/SilverStream/Pages/srvltRecMed?RecordedMediaID=36560 if this link doesn't work, try searching the broadcast archives at groovetech by clicking on motor big room under channel, and then pressing go. thanks! It's from his latest LP. But honestly, the novelty of the track gets tired really fast. Bring your best goat's blood and satan worshipping garb. Samantha's Time Machine
Samantha Mumba has just landed the lead role in the upcoming big budget Dreamworks remake of the HG Wells classic The Time Machine Without the Axis soundtrack presumably!! Incidentally, how good is the DJ Disciple remix of Sam's Always Come Back To Your Love - best underground-meets-pop remix since Miguel Migs' reworking of Britney. Beats Thunderpuss 2000 any day.
