Laurent Garnier on The New Music
I just watched a really interesting interview with Laurent Garnier on The New Music, a show on Toronto's City TV. One of the questions he was asked was how he felt about artistic rights and the internet. He said that sometimes (he) feels raped and describes how there are dj mixes of his online that he himself does not even own copies of, and how it's somewhat unfair that people have access to stuff that he's spent years on (I'm paraphrasing a bit here, I couldn't find a tape to record it :( ) The transcripts aren't on the website yet, but should be soon: http://www.thenewmusic.net/ For the Canadian 313ers, the show is also on again this Monday at 9:30pm, on Muchmusic, although I'm not sure if it's this episode or a new one. _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

Orlando Voorn revisited
I know there was some talk about Orlando Voorn's productions a while back, but does anyone know what he is like as a DJ? The reason I'm asking is that he is playing at Vegatronic in Copenhagen May 19th together with DJ Hell and Miss Kittin The Hacker. Johan

vogel has a strange, moody reputation in the UK. i remember he pissed off dave clarke and others in the brighton scene for some reason, That's not exactly a tall order. Of course I will be there, I am just curious of what to expect. I remember reading somewhere that Orlando Voorn won the DMC World Mixing Championships back in the eighties, is this true? /Johan PS. I _will_ have fun. i don't know about orlando voorn as a dj, but this is an absolut 'must-go' anyway, isn't it? one week ago i went to zuerich for the gigolo label night with hell, traxx and plastique de rève live and WOW, what a night. a gigolo night isn't just some dj's who play one after the other, it's really a harmonic experience. all artists stayed the whole night to party with the crowd, not just for their set and then back to the hotel. have fun, peter

Re: [313] Orlando Voorn revisited
I saw Orlando a few years back at House of God alongside Surgeon. I much preferred what he was doing. The roof went off when he dropped the 2 copies of Flash; the rest of the night's music was in a similar vein. I also remember thinking what a terrific idea it was when I saw Voorn leaving, there was Surgeon trundling behind struggling with his record box, whilst Voorn just strolled along with his on a sort of personal airport trolley. Where can I get one? Go see. John Osselaer: ..I've heard rumours that in the end Ron was selling highly exclusive and superb records for a few bucks just so he could get his next fix. Truly one of the sadder stories in the history of this music. :-( Same goes for Larry Levan. He sold all kinds of classics on the street for dimes. I've got few records myself that I bought from a guy in Chicago, and they have something like the Box -written on the labels. Old Hardy records? RE: [313] Orlando Voorn revisited
whilst Voorn just strolled along with his on a sort of personal airport trolley. Where can I get one? At an airport. I got one at Luton airport, and it helped me avoid a view bruises. Forget boxes though, they hurt, vicious things. Get one of those big bags, they are much easier to carry and you can walk on the plane with them so the airline won't lose your records. Bonus. Heard Voorn with Rush a couple of years back. Nice set, pretty house orientated, but nothing amazing.

Well, the last few times I have seen him he has dished out the freebies and even taken a few punters under his wing by letting them have the guest list treatment wherever he plays. That hard exterior makes him a tough one to work out from a distance, all that drug free seriousness. I suppose you have a few alternate stories as everyone has. I will second that for Claude Young: After his show here (Mpls) he came off the stage (the venue was a rock n'roll club) and hugged every person waiting to talk with him (about 7 or 8 people) and then he stood there and talked for several minutes about the tour he was on. RE: [313] re: vogel / dave clarke
I will second that for Claude Young: After his show here (Mpls) he came off the stage (the venue was a rock n'roll club) and hugged every person waiting to talk with him (about 7 or 8 people) aww guys, your'e the best fans i ever had! want a massage? :) ab and then he stood there and talked for several minutes about the tour he was on. He was all smiles too! Claude Young wins my generosity league though. Besides being top fella, he is also well generous. Everytime he used to come to Voodoo in Liverpool he always stuck some cash behind the bar to get people a drink or two. - Original Message - From: tim maughan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: scott mcgill [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org; seth redmond [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, May 06, 2001 3:19 PM Subject: Re: [313] re: vogel / dave clarke ok...the only evidence i have in this case (not much): daves birthday party at bugged out several years ago: dave walks past me, i slap him on the back and say happy birthday, he smiles, says cheers mate and gives me a cigar. - Original Message - From: scott mcgill [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org; seth redmond [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, May 06, 2001 3:55 PM Subject: Re: [313] re: vogel / dave clarke I have found out to his credit that he is not as miserable as he would have you believe.
