(313) At First Sight
Just picked up the CD version of "At First Sight". On first listen its pretty impressive (as usual). There are definitely shades of the "Every Dog..." releases on most of the tracks as someone mentioned before, although the sound overall reminds me more of the first two Axis 9 releases and maybe even Cycle 30/Growth era Mills - layered strings over tougher beats. The sound is pretty rich overall, with a lot of interconnecting textures and a few oblique elements thrown in any time its in danger of settling too deeply into a groove - classic Axis really. Not the greatest Mills release I've ever come across, but still streets ahead of what any pretenders are doing with this sound. Sean.

i remember distinctly asking one of you 313 peeps what you thought the chance of mills playing a house set at the End was, as he was on the bill with tech-house Mr C. I was scoffed at so didnt' go.wanna kick myself now...and Tristan wipe that smile of your face! I wouldn't say Mills played a House set. He slowed the tempo from time to time and dropped in some disco (I remember 'You Make Me Feel Mighty Real' ) during the middle of his set but on the whole it was techno in a traditional Mills stylee. g

RE: (313) Mururoa And Drexciya
To add to the talk about James, Drexciya and other projects, I've been told by a main Detroit player that Japanese Telecom is only Gerald (the other half of Drexciya), but I think James may of had some influence on some tracks since they would have worked closely But the puzzle I want to solve is, who is Dopplereffekt and Arpanet? I'm sure both these projects are related as the Arpanet LP "Wireless Internet" references the old Dopplereffekt label Dataphysix... but the question is who exactly is behind these 2 projects? Anyone?? Or is this one of those questions that only a few people know and don't want to tell anyone to respect the original artist/s? In this case, not sure if I should be posting the details on Japanese Telecom... but I wasn't instructed to keep it hush d-JCB _ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
