Anyone know what Terrence Dixon is up to these days?
His album on Tresor came out in April 2000 if memory
serves and I'm hoping he has new material forthcoming.

Posted this question about a month ago and didn't hear
a peep from anyone.

Thanks in advance.

I'd like to know too. From The Far Future was amazing, and amazingly
under-exposed too. I lot of people couldn't get into it in fact, possibly
due to it being so different from what was around at the time. (Sort of
ironic.) To me though, it's very techno, very detroit.

RE: (313) Re: New Year's Eve - Milwaukee

2003-12-31 Thread Odeluga, Ken
On a different tip: So, MEK Ken, if I don't like Prefuse 73 (IDM Whiteboy
does Hip-Hop, no thanks - not my cuppa), is there any chance I'll like any
of the other entries MEK listed?

   - Greg

Well if one of your criteria for satisfaction is *non* - Whiteboy does
Hip-Hop, then we have a problem! :-)

Also, I'd expect IDM elements to be part of this newer, kind of hip-hop, I'm
envisaging, but not in all cases.

Then again, there is Madlib. But come on, course we need to keep OutKaste in
mind as we do the Neptunes, but I feel if you cut out people - especially
like Prefuse 73 - for not very good reason (imho), we are missing the point
somewhat. What I especially hope to discover next year is much less
well-known artists and acts than the above. If they're good, and have 'The
Funk', their facelessness will make a point a lot more eloquently than me.

k

Oh yes oh yes - I can see what Ken's saying - take a listen to people like
Beans, Boom Bip, Prefuse 73, Madlib, Mr. Lif, etc.
I do have to say that if you want some coverage of great hip-hop check
these two magazines - XLR8R and Grand Slam

recently came across the later in a Barnes Noble of all places -
fantastic magazine that covers all of my funk and soul addictions
a little old and a litte new

He did release some stuff on Background but i can't remember if those
were before or after his album on Tresor. I know he did spin here in
Holland 2 times, nice sets. His stuff on Metroplex is amazing to btw.

I heard this rumor that he moved to LA to but dunno it that is true

My name's Thorin (aka Thor), this would be my second time being a member of
this list, the first time being around the 96-98 era. I signed back up
around mid-december and so far it's been very informative. Anyway, nice to
be back.

Happy new year everyone. Live long and prosper, and all of that. I caught a
live performance by Tadd Mullinix in downtown Detroit last Friday which I
enjoyed immensely. I have a hunch that 2004 is going to be a great year for
music!

Looking forward to hearing all about Detroit music,
