What he said.

By the way if you look at Google Maps:
http://maps.google.com/maps?spn=3.685469,7.024109saddr=columbus+ohdaddr=detroit+mihl=en

Would any sane person drive from Columbus to Detroit, via Cleveland?
I think the computer that came up with that has never driven in the
Midwest!

(313) More Tunage

2005-07-10 Thread Martin Dust

Dub Kult - Bip - Raum Musik
One of my favourite DJ's, this fella knows how to mash it up. Nice little
12 as well, bouncy little numbers with twisted spot sounds and vocals, bit
Fred G, a bit wonky break-beat with real attention to detail, lovely stuff.
A-side cut for me

Green Velvet - Temptation - Cajual Music
He always manages to stay the right side of annoying, proper skilled and
pretty good for clear the living room after a party - there's only a few of
us that can take this stuff at 5am. Me, I love it, War On The Saints being
my pick.

Oliver Ho - Changes Remixes - Meta
May have mentioned this one before but this is fcuking brilliant, even
liking the Rob Hood mix, which is on a bit of a Los Hermanos tip. Find it,
buy it, play it.

Right bed for me, still drunk :)

Cheers
Martin

PS: LD is back, hick!

(313) New bits...

2005-07-10 Thread Adam Smith

Picked up a few new things this weekend, may be of interest.

I went searching for the Carl Craig album, which I found, so that was
exciting. Great stuff!

I was surprised to see there was a new Aril Brikha 12 on Music Man,
called Prey For Peace. Highly recommended of course. It sounds like
you want it to. This was a nice, exciting surprise at the shop.

Recloose - Dust on Peacefrog - a little late on this one, had not
heard it at all and was unable to listen to it at the place I found
it, but Tom Cox's praises kept ringing in my head. Needless to see
was not disappointed at all, great record!

Emperor Machine - Part 1 Part 2 on DC recordings - kind of on that
spacey disco tip, Part 1 includes an Idjut Boys mix, which is
ridiculously good IMHO. Part 2 is great also, but not as strong as
Part 1. Check those if you're into that chicken lips/lindstrom vibe.

Tokyo Black Star - Psyche Dance ep - Sonar Kollective - not really
sure how to describe, I guess in that space disco realm again, but
very atmospheric and truly wonderful, kind of a subtle tune, but ears
would surely perk up if this were played.

Jesper Dahlback - Polyhouse ep - DX, I love this guy's music. One
side has wonderful piano throughout, kind of an old school house
feel, but a little tougher I guess. Probably the worst description
ever, but check it out...

I'm sure this has been mentioned here, but the new Isolee album is
great! I really dig it. I find that it is more dancefloor oriented
than his previous LP, Rest, which is just fine with me. Several great
tunes on it for sure.

Enjoy!

Adam

ps - I heard Lindstrom Prins Thomas DJ/Play Live yesterday here in
NYC and I must say it was spectacular! They played for 3 hours and
rocked it. Outside at the PS1 Moma Museum courtyard, 1000 dancing,
drunk fools grooving to the best modern disco. Highly recommended if
they're in your area, not to be missed!!

Well I've only heard it live and I dont remember it sounding like that. The
bass was different, the beat was different. This version is too deep, when
he played it a few weeks back in London it was a lot more raw and jackin'!

Having said that its clearly the same set 'cos Roberta Swan comes in at the
end and does all the same numbers she did at the Jazz cafe. Maybe Im just
tripping!

That is because this recording sucks :( When he played it in
Amsterdam it used to be much more dynamic...

Anyone know what's up with Eevolute?
I thought Stefan was bouncing back, but it looks like the opposite might
be happening vis a vis the website and some people I know who have sent
some $ and received only bouncing emails in return. Any ideas? Thanks.

wouldn't read too much into a site going down...
