Re: (313) Diplo?
He has an album Florida and is closely involved with MIA - I would describe it as a mashup style... Check out his album Florida. -- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) Diplo? Date: Thu, 6 Oct 2005 5:20 AM Anybody on here heard this guy? What does he play and is he worth checking out? I think I am scared of the idea of crunched up dirty south 80s mashups, but that also sounds like half the dance manica records that I own. Thanks for any help you can share with me. tom
Re: (313) Diplo?
I meant I wouldn't describe it as mash-up... Also I know hip-hop is illegal here now, but I thought it was nice how Proof pays tribute to Jeff Mills in his new CD. Proof seems to have an amazing 6 degree factor in the D - Amp Fiddler, Davina JayDee beats on his mixtape, buddies with Moodymann, father part of the Motown guard, also he's doing an album as The Purple Gang with Godfather. Quite a revelation his Searching For Jerry Garcia CD - the track on the album Kurt Kobain (sic) is a killer. He has an album Florida and is closely involved with MIA - I would describe it as a mashup style... Check out his album Florida.

Re: (313) Chicago this weekend
Hey Sean list, Great timing- Surgeon's in town tonight though playing at an odd downtown venue that doesn't normally host this type of artist- www.spybarchicago.com and you'll see what I mean From chi-tech.org: Friday 7 October 2005 BIG BANG SESSIONS featuring: SURGEON (counterbalance/dynamic tension - birmingham, uk) with FRANKIE VEGA SASSMOUTH MIKE BRANKIS BRANDON INVERGO + ANTIPHASE relaxed dress code $10 before midnight spybar 646 n franklin 21+ $12 ALSO, a can't miss event, though not strictly 313- RESfest is going on at the Museum of Contemporary Art this weekend and they've brought in Jamie Lidell to close out the festival at 9pm Sunday night, which is HUGE. Saw him perform at Sonar and MUTEK, and both times he threw down an incredible multimedia display of mad soulful genius (assisted by his live visual guy Pablo Fiasco)- if you haven't ever checked out his live show, you really owe it to yourself to experience it at least once in your life - check out http://www.resfest.com/index.php?page=articleid=192title=Jamie+Lidell+%28Chicago%29 for details and a clip of what the former Subhead is up to now. Get your tix fast though, I suspect this may sell out- http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionDatapl=RESFESTeventId=14793 Enjoy your stay in Chicago, Herman - Original Message - From: SEAN DEASON [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Friday, October 07, 2005 9:12 AM Subject: (313) Chicago this weekend Hey gang! So does this mean they won't be stocking any new vinyl, or merely that the vinyl will be sold from the main floor instead of the back room? Pryor, Ryan N wrote: No, no, no. Record Time didn't close! I have to admit that in more recent years I have found more things at melodies and memories though... Chris
