(313) Mix WNUR Chicago - You Used To Hold Me So Tight
Sonic Sunset 30 June 2006: You Used To Hold Me So Tight Fridays 9:30pm - 12:30am, 89.3 FM WNUR Chicago Download from http://SonicSunset.com Part 1 Classic soul grooves from Detroit and mid-80's boogie midtempo bump along in the night. Check Phyllis Nelson's monster love- maker Move Closer, while an infamous old school boot puts Candi Staton over Jamie Principle. Seiji's bumpin' slant on disco and Ron Hardy inspired warehouse sounds from Marcus Mixx. Part 2 Snares rattle through an old-but-new Chicago ride, with softer melodic echoes right behind. Broken beats washed over with late-night rain sunshine strings make the midpoint of the set, breaking down into heartbeat ambience and classic a.i. maneuvers. Check the latest moody jacks from Chicago's Steve Tang, recovered late 80s delirium from Marcus Mixx (yes we like this record), and Pete Leidy's smooth sample-based textural patchwork. The only thing cutting edge is the razor on the haircuts. Still... it's shown off some wicked music, like the Tres Demented Live thing two years ago. Not the place to go to seek out the best audience though. And you'll be lucky to get in to the room you want to watch unless you're staked out there for a while. Didn't you guys nearly miss it on your next-to-last visit? Tristan === http://www.phonopsia.co.uk [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Re: (313) hi-tech soul on sale
We had a screening here in Miami with Gary and it was great. Nice to put a face to some of these names. For the heads or for those interested in the history of this genre of music that we love so much. I ordered mine from plexifilm so I still have a few weeks before I receive it :) There's still a few more screenings according to Gary .. New York , Australia , New Zealand. This is the first documentary film to tackle the history of techno from the race riots of 1967, severe economic downturn and white flight to the suburbs, to the underground party scene of the 1980s and beyond. The DVD is in all-region NTSC format and is presented in its original cinema aspect ratio, and comes with deleted scenes, out- takes and bonus interviews as extras! Highly recommended! fab.
