Currently they have a thriving club scene, probably due to the number of expatriates living in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (only 19% of the people living in the UAE are Emirati - with the majority of those expats being from southern India). The big name clubs are: http://www.peppermint-club.com/ The Peppermint Club - Timos Maas and Armin Van Buren are playing in the coming weeks http://www.dubailook.com/trilogy.html Trilogy Dubai -- Terry Francis played recently. Cloud 9 and Zinc are also supposed to be pretty nice. There are probably another 50-80 clubs there doing electronic dance music - but I'm not finding much information because of the Islamic influence. Dubai and Abu Dhabi have very relaxed laws towards westereners - liquor, dance clubs, dress, everything. except drugs. Get caught and you won't be coming back for a while. There's an Australian expat Michelle who runs a restaurant there - quite famed. ;) I hear the bar scene there is excellent.
