A quick look/listen on Hardwax makes me think it could be Patrice Scott's Atmospheric Emotions. Does that sound right? I was going to suggest this might be it T. It's on Sistrum (a detroit label). I mentioned this a few weeks back for people to check out. The clips sound great. It didn't seem to come into my local record emporium so I don't know what the distribution situation is. It's a bloke btw. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofilefriendid=60128673 robin...

(313) Berlin techno doc Feiern
Anyone seen this? Funny villalobos quote in the trailer. http://www.feiern-film.de/
Re: (313) Berlin techno doc Feiern
heard and then promptly forgot about it, here's where i learnt about its existence: http://www.testindustries.com/ and the piece from it (october archives): Blissed out in Berlin I've made my mind up: I don't want to live in Berlin. I had toyed with the idea over the past few years because I have a lot of friends and connections there, it's a world city with cheap prices and because I speak German (blame it on my university degree), but having watched the 'Feiern' DVD recently, I decided that to protect my mental and physical well being, it would be better not to move to the German capital. 'Feiern' (it means 'celebrate' or 'party' in German) is a soon to be released documentary about the club/party scene in the city and it features interviews with some of the scene's well-known names. Villalobos and Luciano come across well enough - although Mr Nicolet gives his Chilean compadre a dirty look when he says that partying is like being part of a big happy family and why would you need kids? (Luciano has two children and is very much a family man); Thilo from Groove magazine's contributions about the infamous dark room in the Panorama Bar are hilarious, and the story about the gay couple who fall in love at a club and don't even notice that the lights are on and the music is off is quite cute. Apart from that though, there is something depressingly seedy about the rest of the contributors ( don't get me wrong: I like seediness as much as anyone else, but not four days a week). The girl who says that she feels like someone has died as people drop off and go home on the third day of non-stop partying needs to have a good long think about her life, and the gay guy who says he thinks it's cool that all the couches are dirty in the Panorama Bar because it makes him feel like a homeless person is funny for all the wrong reasons. Most tellingly, nearly all of the party people say that they will never be able to find true, lasting love out on the dance floor in Berlin. That claim neatly sums up what's missing from the lives laid bare on 'Feiern': nothing is lasting, everything is transient. At some stage, the party ends, and as Ewan Pearson points out, the most important thing to remember is not to forget to go home. Unfortunately, it looks like that message has been lost on the motley crew that constitute the cast of 'Feiern'... d and then forgot about it: On 13/12/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Anyone seen this? I'm really looking forward to see him live on Saturday @ Berghain/Panorama Bar in He was playing live here early this year and I might say it was one of the most boring live gigs I have ever heard. However, I might also say I am not into this minimal thing... Berlin. plus Theo Parrish, DJ Rolando and (on a norwegian off-topic tip, Lindstrøm Prins Thomas ;) . It's Berghain's 2 year birthday party and I've no f'#!ing idea how I should make it to work on monday... This sounds great! Make us a report on tuesday! Ok well I'm back to the list. And first, I might as well take the chance to plug my new beatport release, Cyborg K - Transmission from Sirius B (just search Cyborg K). Four cuts of techno / tech house / electro, with a bit of glitch and minimal influence. I'm from Chicago, not Detroit, but my Detroit creds include living in Ferndale just a mile north from 8 mile, and at least 3 of the tracks definitely have some Detroit influence in the synths / chords / melodies, especially the electro cut. As far as that Audion, the track was pretty hot but I think it's already been played to death, making its impact somewhat diminished. I already remember it being played at DEMF, and seems like it was in tons of sets since then, especially once the pre-release promos hit. Still it's definitely an anthem for 2006, great example of how to use some really simple elements to make a floor-destroying groove, and also nice in the way it stays funky and blurs the boundaries between house, techno, and minimal. This should go up there with some of the classic 313 dance cuts in my opinion (but, I admit I have no need to hear it in every set!) As far as other recent tracks, I like the Heartthrob remix of Depeche Mode Personal Jesus, and the Villalobos remix of Sinner in Me, although again, the Villalobos kinda seemed to be played out a ton already before it was even released. The newest unfoundsound compilation is really great (and free). I think there might be a couple Detroit producers on there, but I may be wrong on that. Finally, Ryan Crosson (Berg Nixon) has been doing some nice production work these days. Also, Seth Troxler is also from Detroit, only 21, and starting to make some very nice tracks ... and especially, guy is REALLY hot as a DJ, he'll hit plenty of the minimal but then pull out the perfect Detroit house jams (Moodymann etc.) at just the right moments, and his antics behind the decks are hilarious. Definitely one to watch, can really get the party / dancefloor going. Oh, I like that new ep from Sean Reeves and Miss Fitz as well, This House I think it's called. Minimal but with a ton of old school jacking house vibe. ~David On 12/13/06, Guilherme Menegon Arantes [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Tue, Dec 12, 2006 at 08:08:34PM +0100, Carlos de Brito wrote: Von: Robert Taylor [EMAIL PROTECTED] So has anyone heard any good music from Detroit recently? should clarify, the 'blissed out in berlin' piece is from irish dance music journalist richard brophy's blog: http://www.testindustries.com/ (october archives) On 13/12/06, Aidan O'Doherty [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: heard and then promptly forgot about it, here's where i learnt about its existence: http://www.testindustries.com/ and the piece from it (october archives): Blissed out in Berlin I've made my mind up: I don't want to live in Berlin.
