My obnoxious sense of humor is more suited for detroitluv, or other haters, my bad for drinking after work and checking my email. I honestly thought it was some techno version of tubgirl. I am a simple man from west michigan, I find this very disturbing and this is my way of showing displeasure with the system. What happend to the millitant attitude that techno has no face, or the stark minimal packaging of consumed? The nations unemployment rate is almost 9%, last I heard Michigan is at about 16%, it is predicted to rise to 17-20% by the end of the year. Techno is a product of this enviroment and I have little hope or interest in Minus and much hope for the new rising stars of Detroit. Richly Hawtin reminds me of the subject matter in Whitey on The Moon a song written and recorded by Gil Scott-Heron in 1970--nuff said. OK, whilst I might not totally agree with it, that is a much better [better explained, more articulate etc] point of view. It's interesting and I like it. I should add that I get your point re the Gil Scot Herron song. A lot of people on this list would agree with the sentiment behind that song. Still, even as a relatively modest fan of Hawtin, I'd say it would be unfair to apply that sentiment to him so unequivocally. I dunno, seeing that kind of thing 'in the round' increases with age, for a lot of people, I think. [Is that selling out, or getting more mature? The jury's out on that].
